Nigeria SONCAP certification

Nigeria exempted product list, except for the following products, all other products must be certified by SONCAP:

1. Food

2. Drugs

3. Medical supplies (except equipment and apparatus)

4. Chemicals

5. Military goods and equipment

6. Contraband stipulated by Nigerian government

7. Second hand products (except used cars)

After understanding the product list,

let's take a look at the detailed process of SONCAP certification:

Nigeria is different from other countries in certification. It needs to be divided into two steps and apply for two certificates. First, the exporter needs to have a PC (product certification) certificate. After the PC certificate, the importer needs to take the PC certificate to the Nigerian bank to apply for Form M. After obtaining Form M, apply for SONCAP certificate before shipment, so that we can successfully complete customs clearance.

Route A, for occasional shipments in a year: After the exporter's goods are produced, the inspector inspects the goods, and then takes samples from the bulk for testing. After the test is qualified, the PC1 certificate is issued, and the loading is supervised and sealed before shipment. After passing the test, the SC certificate is issued.

Route B, for multiple shipments in a year: First, the exporter applies for PC2. The process of applying for PC2 is as follows: application form; product information; valid test report; factory system audit; PC2 is valid for one year after it is obtained. After the goods are produced, the factory applies for SC loading supervision. After the information is complete, the goods are inspected, sampled and supervised at a rate of no less than 40%, and the SC certificate is issued after passing the test.

Route C, for frequent shipments in a year. First, the factory applies for PC3. The application conditions are as follows: the factory conducts an audit and passes; a valid test report; the validity period after obtaining the license is one year. After the goods are produced, the factory applies for SC as follows: after the information is complete, a certain rate of inspection and loading supervision is carried out on the goods, no less than twice a year
